The Transformation of A Room...and Our Lives!

When my parents introduced me to my first bedroom as a baby, they did so with a certain creative flare; my premier dwelling place featured a custom painted mural of two larger than life lions filling one wall, and on an adjacent wall, a waving racing stripe with the big bold words: Here's Mark!

There was something about the effort and time that went into the design of that room that I've always recognized and remembered.

Which is why my wife and I put our creative minds together to do something along those same lines.

Unfortunately our library/den had to take one for the team, after banishing all the books to the basement, we repainted, added mirrored doors to the closet and installed a rather large closet organization system.

Of course all that was done in the 5th month of our pregnancy and we've been procrastinating ever since.

Fast forward to the predicted week of arrival for our special little blessing, and we kicked things into high gear (because manual labour was made for women who are 9 months preggers)!

We crammed the entire redesign and furnishing into a fun-filled day of building/construction, tool-throwing, toe-stubbing, head-smacking, shock-administering, tear-jerking, and God-blessing!

The end result was a cozy little nursery filled with a smorgasbord of stuffed animals and the matching Noah's Ark theme (can't beat the neutrality of animals - since we don't know what we're having).

However, the real project of this room relates back to that childhood mural of mine. I can pretty much define it as the catalyst of my imagination growing up, so I wanted to ensure our son or daughter would have something along those lines to envision, and spur on any creative juices that may flow in the first years of their life. But more specifically, I wanted to inject the major component that was missing from my most influential dormitory: a reason for my being, and the creator of my existence.

Growing up I never knew or had a relationship with an unconditionally loving Father in Heaven, and so there was always an element of hope that was missing from my life.

The one thing I want most for my child is to know the truth about an all-knowing Creator who fearfully and wonderfully made every being on this Earth. That He is to be honoured, glorified, loved and cherished, and that He transformed me in the same way we transformed this room.

May the Lord dwell richly within these four walls, and do the things for this child that I in my folly and insignificance cannot do.

We thank God for this next chapter in our lives, and for the blessing of the ministry known as "Parenthood".

Stan & Verena

Stan and Verena's wedding day was absolutely stunning - phenomenal weather, a beautiful location and a gorgeous bride and snazzy groom! The location they chose for their photoshoot was a dense forest on their ceremony property and the setting sun made for just that extra element of magic!

We had a wonderful time capturing these memories and wish them a lifetime of happiness!

Lots Of Laughs

I titled this blog Lots Of Laughs because that's exactly what this photoshoot was for us.  We had SO much fun shooting engagement pictures with Eric and Jessie that picking just a few images for the blog was a real challenge!

We had a stunning summer evening with the "happy hour" for sunlight that set the right tone. And between the many props they brought and the geese that Eric was fascinated with, we had no shortage of pictures to take.

Thank you guys for making it one of our most memorable shoots to date.  You're both such beautiful people. We can't wait until your wedding!

A Rainy Day In The Neighbourhood

Stan and Verena are a wonderful couple whose love for each other and their little baby girl is so evident! When they contacted us this summer to take family pictures for them before their wedding we were thrilled. Unfortunately, the day turned into a rainy one and threatened to disrupt our plans.  But as the troopers they are, they braved the rainy outdoors with a newborn to snap some great shots - even at the edge of a waterfall!

Their wedding pictures will follow shortly, but here's a taste of our afternoon in the rain!

Andrew & Linda

We had the pleasure of shooting Andrew and Linda's engagement shoot (you can see it here) and this past August we were able to shoot their wedding as well.  It was a hot and humid day but Andrew and Linda were fantastic as we spent a few hours outdoors capturing family shots and personal photos.  What an amazing day we had - the highlight was definitely the Kenyan musical greeting they received at the reception!

We wish you both a world of happiness and hope the memories we captured of your day will help you remember your day for a lifetime!

Ron & Judy

With the hustle and bustle of a busy wedding season behind us, it's time to get caught up on blogging some momentous occasions we had the pleasure of shooting this year.

One such occasion was the wedding of Ron and Judy.  This long time dating couple finally decided to tie the knot and what an exceptional day they had! With their families by their side, Ron and Judy pledged their lives to each other under a beautiful summer sky. We had the pleasure of capturing some fun moments with them and their kids. We felt so honoured to be a part of their special day!

LG Fashion Week - Robert Graham Event @ The Studio

Moxie's most recent adventures brought us to Toronto Fashion Week on Wednesday for the 10 year celebration of fashion brand Robert Graham.

We had an exclusive look at all the behind the scenes action at the event put on by L'Oreal and LG - hanging out backstage with all the aesthetic professionals and the whirlwind of models running through outfits faster than I could finish my latte.

The event sponsored by Throat Threads Apparel in Burlington was a huge success, and Robert Graham's "X Collection" looked amazing in the unique showcase of live mannequins.

Stay tuned for coverage of the official Robert Graham after party at Brassaii, brought to you by Blazer For Men in Oakville.
